Imagine the nightmare pulling out of the snack bar parking lot with a row of vehicles on each side. Cars will block the sidewalk for pedestrians until traffic will allow for entry onto Cedar. A poor plan all around. Mt. Lebanon is the new Cranberry/Monroeville.
I think this is another example of putting a plan/project into place without notifying residents. The Traffic Board will make a recommendation without getting any input from residents. Elaine
I think this is a request from someone, or a group not named, to remove parking on what they term the North side of Cedar, inside the continuous white striped parking lane in front of residents houses, to establish on-street parking spaces on the Wildcat & Middle Field's side of Cedar instead - not both sides of the street.
This would mean that the Cedar Blvd. residents and visitors to their homes would have to temporarily park across the busy street from where they live or want to visit year round, not just during field sports seasons.
Have the Cedar residents been notified about this meeting agenda ?

All on the Fields side of the street? I would think that you would have to pull half way out into the street to be able to see past the parked cars. That would be a nightmare. Also, wouldn't parents be stopping at that spot to unload the kiddies? You would never be able to get out of there. Elaine
6:16 PM, just so you and others are aware, the on-street parallel parking spaces along Washington Rd and at cross streets in Uptown, whether metered or not, are the most sought after by visitors and important spaces to merchants of all parking spaces. Because of convenience and proximity to intended destinations.
There has been a significant reduction in such spaces by Municipal edict over the past 20 years. There used to be over 120 such spaces; however, 16 were removed in 1993 to make room for a number of flower planter structures during a streetscape project; then 4 were removed on Academy at Washington to allow for wide turning radius requirements of fire ladder trucks; 4 were removed in front of what will some uncertain day be a hotel; 4 were removed a bit down Shady Dr. W near Washington; 2 for medical patient drop off across from Muni building; 2 more on Academy by Rolliers driveway; now 1 or more at the new safety crosswalk. These are not replaceable in kind - there is no more street availability for more spaces. Not all of these removals were made for good and justifiable reasons. If removals bother you, be aware of further possibilities, speak up and contact your Commissioner and protest. We're not a herd or band of sheep.
6:52 - the removals do not bother me when they are for safety improvements in front of my childs school. Thank you for the info but the removal of on-street parking on Washington Rd is not really a big concern of mine. Mostly I am a pedestrian there and pedestrian safety in the whole municipality is a far greater concern of mine.
Curious, with the recent Lebo Alert regarding Police DUI Check Points, will the munipality also be expanding its program of Brewfest, Chilifest and First Nights?
Is this in response to the comment/suggestion made by the resident who lives across from the fields at the last commission meeting? Is this their way to try and appease angry Cedar Blvd residents over the turf/potential of increased parking and traffic issue?
No, this is yet another sleazy bullshit move for this childish project to go through. They have to have x amount of parking spots attached to the project and its acreage. The spots across the street do them no good for getting up the numbers. So voila, just move them to the otherside, throw out some dubious claim about them being attached to the turf project and there are a few spots taken care of. These turf people are such losers.
Why do they need X amount of spots available close to the field? Where is this a rule? They don't follow ANY OTHER RULES so why would they follow the parking spot rule?
Of note, the traffic board appears to have let go of Trans Associates and now has a traffic engineer from... drumroll please... GATEWAY.
Also, while on the subject of the traffic board, don't hold your breath waiting for the Newburn speed bumps. They were "eligible" for their speed bumps a year ago....
Interestingly the Zoning Ordinance has no specified offstreet parking space requirement for athletic fields; therefore, two zoning required options exist for such a determination : (1) use the requirement for the listed use closest to that you are dealing with, which would be stadium seats on site - that would be the existing bleachers at Wildcat and Middle. That criteria are 1 seat = 20 in. width on bleacher bench seating, and 5 seats or 100 in. or 8 ft. = 1 parking space required. Middle field has the Dixon Lot, so the Cedar Lot for Wildcat requires, what, no more than say 25 spaces total and the plan is for 93 spaces ? Zoning also states that offstreet parking spaces cannot exceed 110% of the spaces required by calculation; or, (2)a formal parking needs study, which has not been conducted, although the all knowing and no fault government is saying 93 will be installed, confirming our long standing belief that the Lebo government standard is "don't confuse us with facts, our mind's made up !" There are no space needs criteria for lawn chairs on sidelines or sidewalks by the way.
Hey, don't complain. We may be losing parking spaces on Washington Road, but we're gaining bike racks. Brilliant, everyone one knows there are a multitude of bicycle riders with lotsa money to spend in Washington Road businesses just waiting for those bike racks. Stupidity at its best!

No Mt Lebanon was run by Republicans that actually saved money year to year. I remember my one neighbor dared to place a democrat yard sign out and people gasped. Mt Lebanon was Corporate Headquarters for several Corporations. Uptown had a movie theater, a department store and even a special hangout for Mt Lebanon teenagers. Wasn't it called The Outside In?
I was too little too but my oldest brother girlfriend worked there and since her parents determined me to be the official chaperone I was allowed to go with my brother to take and pick her up. The joys of be the whoops baby... Did your parents allow you to go to the Grove? Now I heard a lot about that hangout!

The spot on washingotn rd by the bank was removed to accommodate the much needed safety improvements to the crosswalk on front of the school.

Plus weren't there spots reserved for muni officials adjacent to Bistro 19, though I'm not sure they are still in place.
