Signs have arrived

Are you against the commissioners spending over $750,000 of your tax dollars to rip up the grass from Middle and Wildcat Fields? Do you have concerns that our growing and developing children will be exposed to harmful chemicals and metals, in addition to increased risks of concussions, knee injuries, heat exhaustion, endocrine system damage, and asthma exacerbation from inhaled particulates and fumes?

This is a risk to our environment. Artificial turf produces toxic run-off to our streams. This area is prone to flooding. Even "organic" infill is a poor choice since organic infill floats, compacts, and freezes. The blades of "grass" and carpet backing are made from plastics, so even organic infill is toxic.

Regardless of the type of infill used, the replacement of natural grass with artificial turf produces a large carbon footprint. It would take 1,861 trees to offset the carbon footprint of this project, not including the trees which will be removed for parking and bordering trees near the turf.

If you would like to have a sign for your yard, please contact me at EGillen476@aol.com to make arrangements for a sign. The cost of the sign is $4.75.

Please make your concerns known to the commissioners!

Please sign this petition if you want to halt public funds for use of artificial turf at Wildcat and Middle Fields.

I'll donate for some signs to be placed on Crystal Drive especially at Brummie's under-assessed house.

That is terrific news, 2:06 AM. I am expecting to hear from you. And when no signs show up on Crystal, Dave Brumfield will be laughing again because "nothing ever moves off this blog."

I wonder if we'll see ANY of the MTL Republican Party Committee members showing their commitment to the Party Principals, by buying and showing a sign against turf?

Just three of the R Party Principles that apply to the turf issues and which you'd think the MTLRC would stand up for!

• Government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
• The proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.
• The most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.

That last one cracks me up! What, did the republican leadership go on vacation? They don't seem to close to the residents of Lebo.

I think the local Republican party committee members have become deaf, dumb and blind from drinking too much of the local government Kool-aid. They hear nothing, say nothing, do nothing. They have become and deteriorated into precisely what the Democrats hoped they would become.

I am finding that parents are willing to donate money toward the signs, but are afraid to display them in their yards. It seems that there are some coaches who are driving around, taking notes. How sad.

That sort of explains why people post anonymous comments... doesn't it?

Why in heavens name would parents be willing to donate cash for signs, but be afraid to display one?
Then why would coaches be driving around taking notes?
Brumfield unfortunately is right.

Have the parents place the signs in friendly neighbors without children yards, and then take photos of the coaches driving by and send them to lebocitizens with names for posting. Identities of parents can be anonymous, and photo backgrounds can be cropped or partially disguised.

The bully boy coaches need to be exposed and humiliated in public.

Brilllant, and after you have the photos of these "exposed and humilated" bully boy coaches, then what?
If these people haven't been embarrassed up to this point- a photo of them driving by a sign is only going to make Brumfield laugh a little harder.
Yeah I know knock off the negativity.

Parents shouldn't be afraid of putting the signs in their yards. The parents didn't ask to be put in this position of pro-turf or anti-turf.

My family prefers grass for many reasons.

We have our yard sign on display.

8:20 PM. What would you propose and be willing to do to counteract and stop what the coaches are reportedly doing to children's parents by the drive-by's ?

11:13, first tell me what laws are being broken. Someone can't drive on a public street past a house with a lawn sign?
Now regarding counteracting what is going on.
It really isn't that difficult. You can't be a coach if you don't have a team. You don't want your kid playing on turf you've got a decision to make because the commissioners are hell bent on buying turf... not with their money... they're going to be using yours!
As for what as a taxpayer I'm going to do. I did it, found a cheaper alternative submitted it and it was rejected, ignored or forgotten.
You can lead a horse to water, you can't make them drink!
So, there are my suggestions, I'm done. Start the bashing, I don't give a ---- any more!

Anyone willing to join me outside Dick's with some signs? I would put a sign in my yard but no one would see it. We are the last house on a dead-end private street. I'd be willing to purchase a couple to be located in a more visible location. I told my youngest, who lives outside Salem OR, about this and he said their school district was looking to the Federal government for money to replace all their turfed fields with natural grass.
