The P-G Endorses State Rep. Rick Saccone

Wonder what the Mt. Lebanon Unity (especially the Jewish residents) people think about this Lamb position. No one in all the comments has discussed the candidates positions concerning Israel and the Middle East.
“While a student at the university, he was upset about an ad in the school newspaper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, that was supportive of Israel. Commenting in the paper Lamb said, "It was disheartening to see the add (sic) in the DP the other day which read, 'Wherever we stand, we stand with Israel.'" He went on to say that Israel was guilty of terrorism and their government targeted civilians.”

The P-G's endorsement of Saccone is not surprising.

Wow! I do not share the opinion of the first poster. For a traditionally left leaning Democratic newspaper, the Post-Gazette's endorsement of Saccone comes as quite a surprise.

"traditionally", perhaps. The P-G has been leaning to the right for about four years now. It endorsed Toomey and refused to endorse a candidate in the 2016 prez election. The new executive editor is a Republican.
There r currently 347 comments on that editorial. Has anyone ever seen a larger response to an article or editorial in the PG?
11:19 I agree. Most of the comments are negative, My guess is that many of those who agree with endorsement quit reading the PG before this.
take away the emotion,, political party,, if you compare the two in experience,, Saccone is one.. talking about hypocrites,, these same Lamb lovers, prop wouldn't go for a rookie surgeon or a money manager to handle their affairs..just saying..

Experience matters, eh? I suppose you voted for Hillary.
What about a rookie anything, who watched youtube videos made by his father, grandfather, and uncles? That counts, right? I think Jon Delano and the PG both said that Conor Lamb is a nice young man, and may have a future in politics, but not right now.

Politics ain't brain surgery. American democracy wasn't designed to function for corrupt career politicians. I want honest, energetic, and independent new thinking and ideas to replace career NRA owned politicians. So what's the requirement to run for office? Conor Lamb served his country as a Marine. He wasn't a draft dodger filing for 5 deferments. He clerked for Joseph Frank Bianco, a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Following that, Lamb was appointed an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the United States Department of Justice. He grew up in Mt. Lebanon and knows the needs of his constituents. Elaine, you ran for commissioner. You were a rookie candidate, and I'm assuming that you felt that you were qualified, but yet you don't think Conor Lamb is qualified. I don't care what John Delano thinks, and the PG's new right-wing owner, John Block's, endorsement is a joke. I support Conor Lamb, and I hope he scores a big upset and knocks off NRA owned Mini-Me Trump. I think it's a major long-shot that Conor can win in the current gerrymandered 18th District, and Trump winning the 18th by 20 points, but I've always rooted for the underdog, and as I see it, this is the good vs. the dark-side election. I'm rooting for the good side to win.
I agree, Elaine, and I am a diehard Democrat. Lamb is polite, smart, good-looking and has a great sense of humor. But he needs to get his feet wet in local politics (for quite a few years) before heading to Congress.

If voters would stop demonizing Saccone the outspoken would have more support, but this ridiculous nonsensical name calling gets us nowhere. Everyone should vote for the person who best represents their beliefs. Both candidates have endured countless lies and attacks during this campaign.
On the issues, I am still trying to understand Lamb's position on abortion. Saccone has been up front on his. All we really know is what they say, not PAC's, canvassers, or others.
I'm interested w Conor Lamb as a Marine.. not many Ivy League grads would be taking this path.

2:03, I don’t think you know much about politics. I am a diehard dem. I am voting for Conor Lamb. However, I would have preferred a more politically experienced Democratic candidate.
according to a UPenn 1/18.. From 2009 to 2013, Conor was a Marine Corps judge advocate with service as a prosecutor in Okinawa, Japan.

so I don't think there was the physical basic training for Conor like the combat Marines...

I agree, 5:53. I think that Conor would rather be viewed as a brave infantry marine than a guy behind a desk. I am surprised, however, that he didn't have any basic foot training at Quantico.
