It's not too late to support ULTRAParty

Yes, I know that the ULTRAParty was last night, but according to http://www.ultrapartylebo.com/, you can still donate. This year, proceeds are going to Accessible Lebo, a new initiative of the Mt. Lebanon PartnershipMt. Lebanon’s nonprofit community development organization. Accessible Lebo will create a fund to enhance the livability of Mt. Lebanon’s public spaces for people with mental and/or physical challenges. Currently, many areas of Mt. Lebanon’s parks are either difficult to navigate or lack amenities for all of our residents and guests. Accessible Lebo will work to change that. In 2013, the fund will be used to purchase playground equipment that will encourage people of all ages and abilities to enjoy our parks.

Not being a beer drinker, I didn't attend last night's event. How was it? Doing a Google search for ULTRAParty 2013, I found many local social groups planning to attend. It was a perfect evening for an outdoor event.

It turned into a lot of drunks. There were at least two fights that had to be broken up by police. Are we looking to be Southside or Oakland? Plus, if we're attracting people from all over the area how do these people get home after a night of drinking.

10:25, they take the T and let loose all the beer for Monday morning rush-hour riders to sniff before work.

I was a volunteer at the Northern ID Check/Wristband table from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM and saw neither inebriated adults, fights or any policemen intervening in any unruly situations. There were hundreds and hundreds of people constantly circulating in our immediate area and those we had dealings with were polite, cooperative and friendly.

That is great news, Bill. Thank you for setting the record straight.

Boy you do have to give credit to whomever is in charge of clean up. Just drove on Washinton from Shady to Castle Shannon Blvd and you'd never know an event had taken place if it weren't for the porta potties by the municipal building. Didn't see any litter at all.
Well done.

The Porta Potties are there for First Fridays, too.

Why weren't there any DUIs after the Ultra Party?
There sure was enough alcohol consumed, and I doubt every patron took the T or cab ride home.

Was somebody complaining about them?

You don't need to be a beer drinker to attend Elaine. There are all kinds of food vendors who also sell soft drinks. Five dollar donations are collected for a wrist-band (to buy beer) but this is a FREE event for everyone.

Many businesses participate (Howard Hanna, Rolliers, Pearson, etc) in addition to the police and fire company, Lebo historical society and many others.

It was in Lebo 1:03, we are a walking community. I was there, did not see ANYONE who was visibly intoxicated.

1:44, it was dark, hard to see intoxicated people, of course they were there.
Didn't you see the trash cans overflowing with beer bottles? How can you say with a straight face nobody was intoxicated?
Walking was not an excuse for one of our school directors on another occasion.

2:02 PM, there were over 2,000 attendee's - don't you think there may be a few beer bottles in the trash cans ? Did you see any cans, bottles or cups in the street or on the sidewalks. The restaurants were also very busy and those who had liquor licences also sold alcoholic beverages in their establishments to customers.

Are you purposely trying to give the ULTRAParty a bad name ?

The street lights were all on and there was supplementary lighting supplied all along the 600 and 700 blocks of Washington Road. Were you hanging out on the side streets where few ventured ?

They use plastic cups at the Ultra Party, so 2:02 was obviously not there.

3:10 I am simply explaining what I saw with my own sober eyes on a public street.
I am sure there were ULTRAParty revelers who were too intoxicated to be in public.
I seriously doubt all 2,000 people only consumed one brewed malted beverage.
I am not trying to give anyone a bad name, simply stating the facts.
Many ventured the side streets throughout the night in various states of intoxication.
Is this public display of alcohol consumption, some in excess, endorsed by the municipality something we should applaud because it's for a good cause?
I don't think so.

It is likely one can find intoxicated residents of various political and religious persuasions in the bubble on any given weekend. Some even attend high school events. Next topic.

Not 2,000+ concentrated in one outdoor public location in the center of town. Next topic.

How sad that someone has to manufacture lies about a wonderful community event to try to justify their pathetic life.

How much was spent for police overtime during the event?

Anonymous said...

3:22 Why don't you call them and ask? Maybe they volunteered their time?! Maybe the Ultra party committee payed the police. What is the point of your question?

Admit it, 4:11. You drank so much at the ultra party you forgot how to spell "paid" properly.
