So much for the Mt. Lebanon Bureau of Tourism

On October 5, 2015, a visiting Cambridge woman decided to take her dog for a walk. Amy Castor had no idea what she was about to walk into. A hunter had just killed four deer and was loading them into his silver Chevy Suburban parked on Thornwood. The details and photos were posted on this blog under  Four deer killed on Shady Lane UPDATED.

The media picked up this story a month later and had it under "Breaking News." Through the comments, someone was able to run the license plate (I guess) and the hunter was Aaron Gander, from Upper St. Clair. Amy was cited by Mt. Lebanon Police and again by the PA Game Commission. Mt. Lebanon gave her a $120 citation.  Days later, the PA Game Commission cited her for interfering with a hunt which carries larger fines plus jail time. John Hayes wrote about it on November 18, 2015.

Amy's hearing is coming up this Thursday, December 3 at 8:00 AM before Blaise Larotonda. John Hayes couldn't even get the date right in his article. I don't know if Amy will have legal representation; I'm assuming that she is flying in from Boston, but I can't be sure. The hearing is public.

The news outlets have already reported Amy’s “wrongdoings.” They read the Mt. Lebanon police blotter. Of course, it was all spun against Amy, at least by the PG's John Hayes. That is why people on the side of justice need to try to set the record straight. This is about the misconduct of the MLPD. Please come to Amy's hearing. Some showing of support at the hearing and in the press would be, well, just. I abhor injustice and I have seen my share of it. We all have.

Thanks for refreshing everyone on this horrible miscarriage of justice. The news outlets failed to mention the name of the archer. Why? It's Aaron Gander. Why are they protecting him? He is the one with the weapons.

Shouldn't the hunter be cited for stacking four deer at once? Doesn't that violate game commission rules?

Want to get cited for taking your dog for a walk in the woods? Come to lovely Mt. Lebanon, a community with character.

There once was a woman from Cambridge
Who didn’t know Mt. Lebanon's acreage.
She went walking her dog
and with a hunter - dialogued.
Which the Lebo police took umbrage.

I am unable to attend your trial. Best of luck to you Amy. You're innocent.

Outdoor News is a hunter magazine that takes reports from the PA Game Commission and publishes them in a column called Collars and Cuffs. I believe hunters can only take one deer at a time. They should not take 4! I also believe the Game Commission cannot cite someone based on a police report. Also, if they are draining blood and other stuff into the stream, then I say it is time to call the Health Dept and the DEP to investigate.

Oh... Allegheny County hunters can "harvest" multiple deer in one day.

http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/058/chapter141/chap141toc.html

(5) Harvest more than one deer at a time when multiple harvests of deer per day are authorized without first lawfully tagging previous harvests, provided all deer harvested are lawfully tagged immediately thereafter.

I, too, hope there will be a good turn-out of support for Amy during this "Witch Trial" in Mt. Lebanon. Like the ones in Salem, there seems to be a presumption of guilt in the coverage this has gotten, as well as in the duplicity between our police and the Game Commission. I wish I could get there myself but have to be in court in downtown Pittsburgh at 9:00 and haven't mastered that "being two places at one time" thing. I will, however, be praying for a righteous outcome and hope this is seen for what it is: an effort to silence any and all opposition to the "Powers at Work" in our previously-rational community.

according to the County online Real Estate records, its very interesting that Mr. Perri just moved on to the street (Shady Lane) this past summer.. their house is at the very end right next to the woods...mmm do the Perri's want a woodlike setting but not the wildlife... not sure who Amy is though I do knew people related to Castors on Shady..they had been on the street a very long time and were animals lovers...

Before buying his current house with his wife, Greg Perri lived across the street on Shady for some time.

just returned from the hearing.. and Blaise through the book at Amy.. he felt since she knew the area,, she knew were the Perri Property was.. and also she should of called the police immed when she saw the hunter instead of returning to her home to get her phone...I was totally shocked how Amy's def att was rudely treated by Blaise and the police officers..

I too attended the hearing and I'm also mentally shakened up concerning many things
1) the way Blaise treated Amy's defense attorney, in fact he asked her if she actually had a law license.
2)the large # of police officers present..
3)finally I was just shocked on how Blaise conducted this hearing,,, he was so aggressive and curt during most of the proceedings you would of thought, she was a major drug dealer in Lebo..the police and the magistrate are on the side of the homeowners and I can understand why they don't want records released..this also is warning to anyone else getting trying to interfere or question any future deer hunts..

oh I forgot to add that Blaise was so angry and inpatient with Amy's def attorney that he ask if she had a law license and what her # was...OMG.. I seriously don't know how these 2 women held it together while they were attacked by Blaise,, the police officers,, the game comm officer and the homeowner... it was just a very very ugly emotional hearing.. as I can say,, if the public had a chance to watch/hear Blaise during this hearing,,, he would of lost the election in a landslide.......
