Wondering what the "Dudley" signs are all about in the Cedarhurst Manor area? For the last couple of weeks, Dudley signs have been in yards along with other political signs.
An inquisitive Lebo Citizens reader was able to solve the mystery. Dudley is a setter whose mommy works for a vet. Her friend, a sign maker, had the signs made as a joke.
So if you are looking for a write in candidate, Dudley is your man, I mean, dog.

The Friends of Dudley haven't been ringing my phone every 15 minutes to tell me how bad Dudley's opponents are.
I think I'll write him in for every position.

A write-in vote for Dudley is not a throw away. This is a prime opportunity to express dissatisfaction with the status quo and with negative campaigns that do not to inform voters what the candidate will do once in office. If the best they can come up with are ads that knock their opponent I want nothing to do with them! That goes for Rs or Ds.
Does anyone know how to stop the robo calls? Do these politicians think that ringing my phone every 15 minutes is going to change my vote in their favor? Do they think we are so stupid that after a year and a half of campaigning a phone call will sway my vote?
It is a sad time for this country. The only two choices for Chief Executive consist of a man who for the past four years has addressed the American people in "Newspeak," and a man who cannot tell you how he intends to govern. Neither the D nor the R has the courage to take on Medicare and Social Security, the real drivers of the nation's debt. Neither candidate has a plan that will reduce the deficit. Both candidates "share a disdain for civil liberties." The "D" has a cadre of apparent automatons who have "pledged to serve" their master. The "R" gets an endorsement from an elderly pop-singer who will also sell you a walk-in tub.
My choice for president is Gary Johnson. As to any other race where the choice is between "the lesser of two evils" (which is still evil!), to suggest that a vote for Dudley is wasted has yet to be established!
The calls have gotten so bad, that I just had one with another one calling in on the other line; both callers were real people. I did hear from Bob Barker and he wasn't even calling for Dudley. Get it? Barker? Groan. I did get a call from Bob AND Mitt, Paul, Clint, Toomey, organizations I never heard of, OMG. Make it stop!!!

Billions of dollars, thousands of hours of air time, and polls, and news reports, and trees cut for junk mailers and lawn signs... that say essentially nothing more than vote for me cuz the other guy is.... (insert your poison here).
What's more caravans of gas guzzling vehicles, plane rides, security personnel, media lights, generators, caterers, etc., etc. and we have hundreds of thousands homeless, no heat, no water, no clothes, no security and with a straight face these yokels can tell us they care ... they really, really care. Ugh!
I'm a registered independent, but I've gotten few calls of late from any candidates. Probably due to all the microtargetting data, both/all sides think they've got a handle on where I'm going, and with a strong record of showing up to vote, the side that thinks I'm with them probably sees no need to bother. Did get a robo-call from Tom Smith's daughter yesterday (guess who she's for?), but she mispronounced "false". I have heard many stories, though, of people getting 10-15 calls per day from campaigns and, even more so, superPACs. Not sure this is likely to change for future elections given court decisions on the calls being 1st Amendment-protected. I'm guessing best strategy for avoiding robocalls in future is to answer early (September/early October) automated poll questions with a definite choice and with certainty that you will vote. If call is from side you didn't support in your answers, you should be largely done with getting calls from them. But who knows? The microtargetting algorithms will probably be much more sophisticated next time! And being cell-phone only does at least limit your calls to live pollsters and live campaign workers (no robocalls allowed).--Neil Berch
