Are you watching, Mt. Lebanon? UPDATED 3X

Sign the petition: Justice for Cecil the iconic collared lion slaughtered by trophy hunter in Zimbabwe!

On that same note, it appears that Mt. Lebanon is having difficulty getting residents to volunteer their properties in this densely populated community. This is the latest update on the municipal website.
White Buffalo Inc. needs more residents to donate their private properties for the program. Informational meetings will be held in the commission chamber of the municipal building Saturday, August 15, at 10 a.m. and Monday, August 17, at 7 p.m. Resident also may contact White Buffalo directly... Properties in dense residential areas with few trees will not be suitable for the program. [Nah-uh] Please do not contact Mt. Lebanon Municipality directly.

Update July 30, 2015 8:17 AM I confess that I had no idea what a treestand looked like. Googling treestands, I found this.

Yeah, that image certainly will add character to our community parks and neighborhoods.

With the "thousands" of deer that PG's John Hayes reported Mt. Lebanon having, we may see more of this:

I wonder how many will be located along school safewalking routes. Something for the kiddies to see walking to and from school. Mt. Lebanon encourages elementary school children to go home for lunch. Wonderful.

Update July 30, 2015 9:25 AM The hunters have been recruited. This extensive screening process cost Mt. Lebanon taxpayers $15,460. From the Mt. Lebanon website:
White Buffalo Inc, the wildlife management firm hired to screen, train and manage archers who will conduct a bow hunt this fall, has concluded recruiting hunters. The archers, who will hunt up to 12 hours a week, were required to show experience through harvest verification and will need to have a Bow Hunter Education Certification before they can begin.
A hunter can take the course online. You must score 80% or higher to pass. Bow Hunter Education Certification.

Update August 1, 2015 10:40 PM This is the White Buffalo tweet mentioned in 10:06 PM's comment.

So density does matter...

It has always mattered, but the commissioners told us otherwise.

It is shocking that the Bow Hunter Education Certification course can be taken online! This is terrible!

Here's an idea - maybe the Mt. Lebanon School District can start to offer this class in the new high school! Of course, I am kidding.

Did anyone get confirmation as to specifically when the hunting will take place? Dates? Times?

12:34, the more shocking part is that the Bow Hunter Education Certification course is "not" a requirement in Pennsylvania, just a recommendation. It looks as though that Team DeNicola/Maddock is requiring it though.

the density of the collective heads is what matters most.

amend that to say the density of the collective heads of the commissioners

Can't find places to hunt? Call the people that are bitching the most!

50 yards buffer in Mt. Lebo is like trying to find a commissioner with commonsense.

I have what they need but they can't use it!!!! If they even trail an injured deer on my property there will be hell to pay. THAT'S FACT!

Nick at 12:42 PM, archery season starts September 19. Coleen Vuono would like to start ASAP. From the municipal website:

"White Buffalo representatives plan to attend the September 8 commission discussion meeting at 6:30 to describe the final program, including the backgrounds of the manager and hunters, the number of public and private properties to be used and the safety procedures that will be required."

11 days after the commission meeting, archery season starts. My guess is that the killing will start on September 19.

Officials said a PITTSBURGH gynecologist took part in a hunt in April outside Hwange National Park, where a lion, Cecil, was killed by an American dentist last month.

Is he signed up for Mt Lebanon's cull, too?

9:51 PM, the Trib is reporting the same thing. He's from Murrysville. Zimbabwe alleges Murrysville doctor illegally killed lion

I am sad to see August arrive. That means that next month, the killing begins in Mt. Lebanon. Heartbreaking.
