Like... OMG...Gag Me With a Spoon

For some reason, my neighborhood, which some call the Ghetto, never makes it in these videos. Susan just likes to show the big houses. Of course. Anyone want to guess how much this cost taxpayers?

A well produced piece of municipal propaganda with comedic overtones - especially at the three minute mark.

I know! A responsive government where our opinions count! Ha! That cracks me up every time.

There is even shared garden space to grow our own food! We know that comes with a price!! BTW, don't most of the homes in Mt. Lebanon have space to grow vegetables? Even if you only have a balcony, you can do container gardening.

I like the part where people are crossing in crosswalks and they don't get hit by cars. Where IS this place anyway?

Don't forget those beautiful welcoming gateways into the community at Gilkenson & Cedar and MT Lebanon Blvd and Castle Shannon Blvd.

As a first time visitor you'd have to wonder if residents are so take weary that they must be reminded to " Look Up Lebo."

I think it's nice. Why so bitter?

Could it be that it is too nice?

"Responsive" is not in either of our governments' vocabulary.

During the comments portion of both governments, our elected officials and staff ignore residents' questions. Emails are ignored. I have emails through RTKS' where Susan Morgans would tell her manager that she was not answering emails sent to her.

I remember when a young woman, who was very upset during her comments concerning the killing of deer, stayed after the commission meeting to speak with Silverman, only for Steve to run out of the commission chambers, slamming the door behind him. Later, we saw him ducking out the side door of the municipal building. I called down the steps toward the coward and said, "Run Steve. Run!"

I had more "Not in My Yard" signs on Kelso, than Silverman has yard signs.

Nepotism is alive and well in Mt. Lebanon. Silverman's daughter was junior commissioner. And we all know about Elaine Cappucci's son. Mt. Lebanon is not interested in what we think.

Did the Realtors contribute anything toward the production of this "advertisement" or did they just ask for it?

A friend sent me the link. (We've been gone for several years...I had to get my kids back to good schools.) I forgot how little diversity there is in Mt. Lebanon. Nothing like a video promoting the town to remind me.

And browsing this blog...sad to see little has changed. At least we weren't there when they decided shooting deer in parks is a good idea. Good lord!

"MT. LEBANON, A COMMUNITY WITH CHARACTER"

Why didn't Susan Morgans promote the new hunting opportunities in Mt. Lebanon's back yards and parks, or mention the annual slaughter of deer by contractors using high powered rifles in residents back yards and parks? Not to mention, that if you oppose hunting or the shooting of high powered rifles next to your home, with no safety zones, that you have no rights to protect your family from this threatening and dangerous nightmare. And if stand up and protest to protect your family or take pictures, that you will be harassed and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Is this supposed to be a bonus surprise for new residents after buying their home. Unfortunately, the tons of negative PR Mt. Lebanon has generated in the press about the community being turning into a private hunting preserve and shooting gallery has done untold permanent damage to the reputation of Mt. Lebanon and the attractiveness of new local prospects wanting to move here. So I'm guessing that this propaganda video is for out of towners looking to move to Pittsburgh.

Also, why would a "Community with Character" oppose all the humane solutions proposed by The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to manage its deer-human conflicts, and instead vote for violent and lethal measures, which HSUS considers animal cruelty and ineffective? IMO, these actions do not line up with Susan Morgans' claim of a "Community with Character" but illustrates just the polar opposite.
