The League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh regrets that it must cancel the forum for candidates for the Mt. Lebanon School Board. Despite having proposed three possible dates for the forum, the majority of candidates were not available for any of them. Not being able to present at least a majority of the seven candidates, the League felt that it could not offer a fair and equitable opportunity for all viewpoints to be heard.
The LWVGP thanks the Mt. Lebanon PTA Council for its assistance in making site arrangements for the forum and doing publicity. We regret the inconvenience this decision causes the PTA Council and the A. P. Government students who were going to serve as greeters.
The LWVGP looks forward to working with the Mt. Lebanon PTA Council in the future.

This is very concerning. There are a lot of people very interested in this election. The absence of a public forum prior to the election, with an opportunity for give-and-take between the public and would-be elected officials, adds to the obscuring of openness that is the running theme in MTL across all governmental entities.
HS class president elections have more of a defined process than this school board election.
This also makes me wonder--Whose interests are most served when there is no forum? It's almost always the incumbents, the status quo. I am not so sure there was ever really an intention for an open public forum. Typical. Prix fix.
Going to the Calendar Events here, http://lwvpgh.org/calendar.html, there is no mention of a cancellation, but if you go to their home page, http://lwvpgh.org/index.html, Mt. Lebanon is not listed.
Mt. Lebanon Magazine hasn't mentioned anything on FB. On the CCRB FB page, there is an announcement of the cancellation. https://www.facebook.com/partnersstudentsuccess/posts/295973700901278 I guess the word isn't getting out because of their limited amount of supporters.

Cancel the protest ! They heard us !
Are you sure it isn't just a coincidence, 10:19 AM? ;)

In what sort of junta government do a few people get to control tens of millions of dollars with no public vetting of ideas, plans, perspectives, qualifications beforehand?
Jason, I understand your reaction but the reality is, people living in Lebo hae every opportunity to change things. They choose to ignore the window of hope. Most people are lazy to the point of not educating themselves.
So while a tiny minority of Bubble dwellers control spending, it's up to another tiny minority to spread education and facts. That's just the sad reality.
It was Reimer, Diamond et all team that refused to schedule.
Oh, OK. I bet you it was that selfish Mike Riemer who would rather help hurricane victims in Houston and Puerto Rico than attend the Candidates Forum. Gee, where are his priorities, right 9:11 PM?
Elaine
That's not true.
What's not true, 10:12 PM? Mike Riemer IS coordinating efforts in those areas. What is wrong with you?
Elaine
Too bad it was cancelled, because it would have been one helluva a show.
How could Birks get snippy responding to residents’ questions while trying to solicit votes!
Yep, one helluva show.
Someone sent me copy of the Howe PTA Newsletter. Thanks for sending.
