The best news I have heard in a long time.
Finally! Sterilization, a non-lethal method of deer management will be discussed at Tuesday's Commission Discussion Session. On the agenda:
Wouldn't it be wonderful if our commissioners abandoned the plan to kill deer in our densely populated community and opted for a non-lethal sterilization plan instead? I am hoping that funding will come through too. According to the Commission Meeting Agenda, the Humane Society of the United States sterilization program will be totally funded, thanks to the Dietrich W. Botstiber Foundation (DWBF), IF Mt. Lebanon agrees to take all lethal methods off the table. I am cautiously optimistic that a majority of the commissioners will agree to it. Here is the problem though. The agenda for the regular commission is arranged in such a way that the commissioners will vote first for the archery program, then the "sharpshooting" plan, and finally will vote on the sterilization plan. It is the last item on the agenda.
So here's the plan. Please attend Tuesday's commission meeting and express your support for a non-lethal plan to manage our deer.

The Agenda is bass ackwards! It's obvious that the Commissioners DO NOT want to do the right thing! The sterilization as the last agenda item was slotted to appease those of us not wanting any deer hunting! Are they that stupid that no one can figure this out?? One can fool some of the peolple all of the time; one can fool all of the people some of the time; one can not fool all of the people all of the time! Except for Frassch, the rest of the Commissioners are jackasses and complete fools!
Since sterilization does not require a license, the Game Commission won't make money off of it (unless they change things up). From what I have been reading in the newspapers, the Game Commission hasn't been doing well financially and has had to postpone various projects due to lack of funding.
I think that going with sterilization would be fantastic and might help to repair relations within the community and in the region.
12:51 AM, I don't see that happening. The haters are going to town on Lebo Citizens reader Jason Margolis' letter to the editor of the PG. Mt. Lebanon is killing deer again
A group of us were distributing "Not In My Yard" signs at First Friday last night. We had another hater, freaking out on us because she has Lyme Disease. We tried to explain that the disease is not passed on by deer, but she wouldn't hear of it. Just Google "lyme disease from deer" and you will get 479,000 results. The municipality has info on their website trying to bust that myth.
We also met a next door neighbor of one of the biggest haters. She told me that they had a block party last week and a group of them were considering hitting the deer with pots and pans. They want them dead. This woman was very upset with her neighbors. She took two signs.
Tuesday is going to be ugly. If the archery program is continued, the haters will not be happy. In the RTK that I picked up yesterday, residents were not happy with the archery and wanted sharpshooting instead. If the sterilization is approved, then the haters will be even more hateful. There are those of us who would not be happy with any lethal methods, but I delivered about 20 signs that have not been displayed yet because people don't want to upset their neighbors.

Has the Mt. Lebanon School District addressed the municipal deer hunting plans with the Commissioners? Our superintendent should be having a stroke about archers shooting arrows while kids are walking to and from school. And they must walk. Mt. Lebanon does not have school buses. Is there a federal safe schools act? Was it passed? Does anyone know?
Do you have a link to the actual contract (not proposal) between White Buffalo and the Municipality? If so, please post it. It's important that it be reviewed by the lawyers (for our side) before Tuesday's meeting. Thank you.
I will see what is in the RTK and compare it to what is posted on the municipal website.

This is from the website. http://mtlebanon.org/DocumentCenter/View/11105
I won't be able to go through everything tonight. Most likely, I will be able to check tomorrow.

Thanks for that link. Perfect.
By the way, Steve Feller is being a jerk with this RTK. He charged me for 131 pages, much of what is already on the website. He sure is sticking to me now that he knows he is gone next month.
