Steve Silverman is still worried about prokill people being harassed. No worries about kids walking in areas where bullets are flying.

Interesting article, but I disagree with the final statement. The positions are NOT equally valid, and that would be clearly apparent if the deer haters and their bought-and-paid-for Commissioners would come clean about the real reason for all this carnage in the first place. This is NOT about public safety! Not Now, Not EVER! They don't have the integrity to honestly declare that this is about damage to vegetation that the elite among us have spent tens of thousands of dollars on, just so they can impress one another! I get it that they have to maintain their charade to avoid the public from becoming outraged, but it galls me that the media is willing to help them with their cover story. BTW, Route 19 is a very long street. I wonder, just in passing, WHAT community the woman was driving in when she encountered the first of her two deer. Actually, I also wonder how many deer she has to hit before she starts to watch out for them, but that's for another discussion.
Barbara,, you are complete correct about the elite.. every word is true... I know a Jewish woman in the Markham area who has thousands and thousands of dollars invested in her backyard...note,, she is never on the garden tour because she doesn't want the publicity.. her beef with the deer has NOTHING to do with car accidents but everything about them eating her plants...she has fencing on three sides and would need one more side to keep out the deer but she would rather call Steve Silverman her commissioner to have them eliminated..
I know Rabbi Mahler. He is a brilliant Torah scholar, for sure. I think his quote was strategic and political ... There are people at Temple Emanuel on both sides of this issue -- probably there are in all Temples, churches, mosques, etc. He has to play the middle ground to validate both sides and not alienate any congregants.
The article is not perfect, but it is one of the more balanced pieces of journalism on the issue in some time. Of course, I wish it was more anti-killing - but as journalism, it was pretty good...
Would it be considered harassment if someone sent that piece to John Hayes and told him that THIS is what real journalism looks like?
No.
The P-G published another piece of yellow journalism by John Hayes on Saturday, March 19. Loser. They give him too much ink. The story was all about racks.
