When my kids were in school, my husband and I joined PTA, as most parents do. We were encouraged to sign up for Just Between Friends. Big mistake. Our youngest graduated in 2009 and I can't unsubscribe!
I am getting constant reminders now. Here is the latest.

Learn fatherhood tips and participate in activities with your kids while rotating through football - themed stations. So what is Just Between Friends? On their
website, they describe themselves as "the official PTA membership management and communications system, PTAs all over the country are able to communicate effectively with their entire school and easily manage their membership. The efficiencies experienced using our system enable this volunteer organization to strengthen their PTA and simplify the lives of their members."
I have been trying to unsubscribe three years. It turns out, they are at 1910 Cochran Road. They may even read this blog. I have tried to block their emails, but their email address changes constantly.
To read "Learn fatherhood tips and participate in activities with your kids while rotating through football - themed stations." is offensive to me on so many levels.
I caution anyone who is considering joining this group. It appears to be a life long commitment.

Do they teach the kids how to become deadbeat athletic supporters?
Do they teach the kids to respond to blog posts with assinine questions?
No, the dads learn fatherhood tips like being verbally abusive to commissioners who are trying to help them. I am trying to get my hands on the emails that are just short of what was signaled in the photo that was in my yearbook.
The emails are outrageous. I hear they aren't too kind with me either.

Hi Elaine,
A mutual friend alerted me that you felt you were unable to unsubscribe from a group or list that was being administered through Just Between Friends, and pointed me to your blog. So I spoke with our customer support team about it. It turns out that you have been getting messages because you're in a group for families with Mt Lebanon HS Alumni. (Apparently, you had signed up while your child was in school; and "graduated" to this list when he graduated.)
Based on your post and private messages, we have removed you from that group and deleted your account in Just Between Friends. The easiest way to get off a list is normally to click on the unsubscribe or manage email preferences links on the bottom of emails that go out through our system.
Just Between Friends is a platform for groups. As you point out, we are the official communications & membership management system of PTA on a national basis, and are in thousands of schools. But we also work with leagues, scouts, booster clubs, performing arts and other organizations. Each organization decides which messages to send to whom, and generally use their own email addresses. Which is why it may have looked like the email address constantly changed.

If any of your blog readers would like to get off lists or change preferences, they can do so by logging into their Just Between Friends account and click on Email Preferences on the menu on the left side of the page. If they are on multiple lists, they can then decide which ones should be sending them mail.

Thanks, David. I appreciate your follow up. I had tried to unsubscribe for several years by clicking on unsubscribe, but it would never work. Others have complained saying that they had similar experiences. Maybe it is a glitch in your system. Who knows?
